Meet the Xtrallux Founders

Carlos Piña, CEO of Xtrallux.

It was through Carlos's own personal experience as a hair loss patient and businessman that he first saw the potential to create an effective, convenient non-surgical product for the treatment of hair loss.

For years Carlos Piña consulted for marketing services with Miami-based, hair restoration surgeon, Dr. Bernard Nusbaum. Carlos underwent several successful hair restoration surgeries himself with Nusbaum. After learning about the advantages of light therapy to treat hair loss, Carlos invented a home-use solution utilizing cutting-edge technology in a wearable design that encourages compliance, and ultimately efficacy of results.

This first device he introduced was the CapillusPro by the company he founded, Capillus, alongside his wife and daughter. They began that company from the garage of their home in 2012 from where they designed the product, handled customer inquiries and even fulfilled their own orders.

After founding and growing the company and its brands to product lines serving various specialities, in 2021 the Piña family left Curallux (formerly Capillus) in the hands of the their partners. 1After exiting the former company, the Piña family returned to their roots and began to develop a more powerful family of devices to once again satisfy the changing needs of the hair loss market. After many months of product development, testing and setting up their new operation in Miami, Xtrallux was born.

Please note: The Capillus company, Curallux, and their respective brands are trademarks of their owners and are NOT associated with Xtrallux.

We’re a family owned company, so we take our reputation very seriously. We want to ensure we have happy customers.

Everything You Need to Know.

How long until I see results?

Most users report reduced shedding within 1–2 months, early new-growth signals at 3–4 months, and visible improvements between months 5–6. Continued daily use is required to maintain and enhance results.

Is it safe to use every day?

Yes. The Xtrallux device is designed for daily 6-minute sessions. Exceeding the recommended usage does not provide added benefit and may have a negative impact. The device is Class 3R per IEC 60825-1 and emits no heat.

Does laser therapy actually work?

Yes. The U.S. FDA has cleared Xtrallux devices as effective for treating androgenetic alopecia under 510(k) K222364. Multiple peer-reviewed RCTs (Lanzafame 2013/2014, Suchonwanit 2019, Liu 2019) report statistically significant terminal hair count increases vs sham at 16–24 weeks. Individual results vary.

Will it work on my hairline, crown, or both?

Xtrallux caps are designed to cover the full scalp dome, treating both frontal and crown areas simultaneously. Higher-density models (Super Plus, Turbo Pro) provide more uniform coverage and may produce results faster across the entire treated area.

Is it painful or hot?

No. Xtrallux is a cold laser therapy device. The visible red light energy delivers no heat. Any warmth you feel is from the electronics housing or body heat insulation, not from the laser itself.

What's the difference between Alpha, Super Plus, and Turbo Pro?

All three are FDA-cleared, all three deliver the same 650 nm red laser energy. The difference is laser density: Alpha (136 lasers), Super Plus (276), Turbo Pro (316). Higher density = more uniform coverage, more total energy delivered per session, generally faster visible results.

Will it work if I'm completely bald?

No. Xtrallux is FDA-cleared for mild to moderate hair loss only: Norwood-Hamilton IIa to V for men, Ludwig-Savin I-1 to II-2 for women. If your hair loss is advanced (full baldness) or due to scarring alopecia, this device is not for you. Consult a hair restoration physician.

Is it safe for darker skin tones?

650 nm at <5 mW has no reported adverse effects for any skin tone, but Xtrallux devices are FDA-cleared specifically for Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–IV due to the substantiating clinical data submitted in the 510(k) process.

What's the warranty and money-back policy?

Xtrallux includes a 6-month money-back guarantee. Register your warranty within 30 days of receipt and use the device for a minimum 6 months. Manufacturer warranty covers defects (see Instructions for Use). Excludes Shop Pay financed purchases. 25% restocking fee applies on returns.

Can I travel with it?

Yes. Each device ships with a travel case, a universal AC adapter (100–240 V), and 4 international plug blades. The lithium-ion power pack (18.5 Wh) is well below TSA's 100 Wh carry-on limit. Carry the power pack onboard.

Is this the same as in-clinic LLLT?

Xtrallux uses the same wavelength (650 nm) and laser-class technology as professional in-clinic LLLT systems. The difference is form factor and convenience. You get clinic-grade therapy at home, every day, in 6 minutes.
